My wife, Terri, and I have enjoyed over 30 years of marriage and we’ve spent the majority of these years in the Pacific Northwest. We love to garden and are both passionate about wellness and healthy living. Terri and I love to spend any of our free time with our children and grandchildren who are spread across the US from Seattle to Boston. Since our youngest child was diagnosed with Type I diabetes, Terri and I have been active with the American Diabetes Association and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to help raise awareness and diagnosis of type I diabetes. My wife and I are both active members of our church congregation.
I was born and raised in San Jose, California. After I completed my undergraduate schooling in California and Utah, my wife and I relocated to Chicago for dental school at Northwestern University. Six years later (and with four children) we moved back to California where I practiced as an endodontist in Palo Alto for a few years. Terri and I had our sights set on Washington so we moved our family up north, added two more children to our family, and have now raised all six kids up and out of the house. Terri now works with me in the office. We have enjoyed our years located here in the Bel-Red Dental Center and look forward to many more.
Everyone gets all the time they need.
This has been my philosophy from day one. I like to have plenty of time to make sure my patients feel comfortable, heard and taken care of. Nobody should leave feeling rushed or forced into any decisions. My goal is to educate my patients on what they are experiencing, what I see, and how they may proceed. As many as 1 in 10 patients walk away without needing root canal treatment. My goal is to make sure all my patients understand their options and feel confident with the decision they make.

THE CALVERT DENTAL HERITAGE FOUNDATION
I am proud to be a third generation dentist. My grandfather James Rex Calvert, graduated from Northwestern University in 1908. He practiced dentistry in Salt Lake City for 54 years. My father, Wade Pingree Calvert, graduated from University of California in San Francisco in 1953 and practiced for 50 years in San Jose. My three brothers are all practicing dentists in the San Francisco Bay Area, and two of their sons practice as well. Four generations of dentists! In 2008 we commemorated the one hundredth anniversary of my grandfather’s dental school graduation and established the Calvert Dental Heritage Foundation. It is an organization of dentists and dental professionals who are directly related to Dr. James Rex Calvert.
